These pictures were taken at a Civil Rights Demonstration in Cincinnati,
Ohio on 8 April, 2002. It was the one year anniversary of the police
killing of Timothy Thomas, an unarmed black youth. His killing triggered
several days of civil unrest in downtown Cincinnati. Demonstraters
on this day were protesting that City Hall was doing little or nothing
to ensure that police are there to protect all persons regardless of race,
instead of primarily protecting the property rights of the wealthy and
acting as a means of repressing the black and poor.
The rally began on Fountain square, then proceeded to City Hall, then
to Central Police Station (District 1).
